Title: JJC Electronics
Post by: destroyer42 on October 18, 2009, 08:20:05 pm
Hi Fellow boaters,
Is there any one who can fix the old JJC smoke units?
I think it could be the module that not working correctly. Fan works no smoke. It belongs to a friend who is retired and I dont think he could afford a new one.

Regards

Do take a moment to make sure the water level is correct.
I had one gentleman contact me regarding a non working JJC unit, and
I told him to try adding another 60 ml of water... It went right back to working.

Just be careful not to over fill it, as any water through the fan will ruin the fan.

Try hooking up the piezo vapouriser to a 24v supply directly to see if that still works, if it does then its the control board, however if this is faulty some of the components on there are long obsolete.

The vaporizor in the JJC was an AC powered unit. the circuit board had a coil on
it that would vary the voltage to the vaporizor from 1 - 54 volts AC.

Doesn't sound like much chance of repairing Old Smokey then, I just thought I'd try mine before advertising it to sell, but it doesn't make smoke anymore.

I have repaired a few of these old smokey units by converting them to the same spec as my Foggys, what you get is a JJC box with Foggy internals.
