Title: scaling plans
Post by: class37 on October 24, 2009, 09:53:05 pm
Hi all,

can I just check that I have something right ?

I have read loads of the posts on this, and I think I have got it right, but just want to check before I start copying.

I've just received a set of ship plans at 1/100 scale, and I want to photcopy them to 1/72.

am I right in thinking that to get the new setting I divide the old scale [100] by the new scale [72] to get a ratio of 1.38 recuring.

so I copy the plans at 138%, and this should result in 1/72 scale plans.

then take a known dimension from the data sheet, measure on the original 1/100 scale plan, and do the same on the 1/72 scale plan, and the resulting measurements should be at 1/100 and 1/72 of the original real dimension.

many thanks in advance

cheers

Close enough. 8)   (It should be 138.888885%)

Download this little program it makes it easy and does all the calculations for you.

Hi Mike,

many thanks for that.

I think the copiers at work on go to 1%, but with my building that should be close enough !

just going to check out that link then I'll have a go at the plans.

good thing it's an extra hour at work tonight !

cheers
