Title: layout for props

Hi all,
I have decided that the Azteca class patrol boat I have needs to have it's outer shafts [removed prior to my getting it] re-installed.

now I need some input from you knowledgeable guys.........

1. the slots in the hull for the outer shafts are located about three inches forward of the centre shaft, is this normal ?

2. should I look to make the outer props counter rotate, or would you advise all three rotating in the same direction, and trim the rudders [I'm looking to reinstall the outer two rudders as well] to maintain staright ahead with no helm ?

3. is it better to go with the outers on one channel for when required, and the centre shaft on a seperate channel for manouvring at slow speed, or have all three running all the time ?

I think outer props are often mounted forward of the centre one - this may be to keep them inboard a bit and thus less likely to hit things. I should have thought you'd want the two outer prop motors ESCs fed through a rudder mixer for the greatest manoeuverability, and contra rotating, with the centre one coming in for high speed only. I think FLJ shows a wiring arrangement for such a setup in one of his diagrams on the ACTion site.

And - having the outer props and shafts further forward means you don't have to find room in the hull for 3 motors abreast.
