Title: Scrap lead for ballast.
Post by: Greggy1964 on November 14, 2009, 10:46:46 am
Yesterday I did my good deed for the day and helped a couple of friends of mine tow their old car to the scrap yard, which was fun if a tad hairy! :o :o {-)

When your driving the car that's towed 6 foot behind the lead car it can be  . . . . . intereting! {-) {-)

But I digress!

The scrap merchant was only interested in metal and while my friends were busy pulling bits off the car they thought they might need, and me being a scratch builder ever on the lookout for useful stuff to use on models . . . . .

I did a spot of noseying.

What I found was a huge bin of scrap lead from a recently demolished warehouse.

I came away with 15kg of the stuff for £13.50 :-))

And if needed, there is plenty more where that came from. :-))
