if i have twin motors with twin esc's and only want to use one sla battery to power them both is it just a case of joining both sets of wires from the esc's to the one battery? {:-{

Action do a distribution board which incorporates fuses for each individual circuit.
If 1 motor is overloaded you can still get back to shore on the remaining 1 and it tidies up the wiring.

how does it tidy the wiring if all you have to do is connect both speed controllers to one battery ?

The seperate fuse idea is a good one though.... and also you have to consider if you are wiring in series or parallell.

Unfortunatly I couldn't tell u if I was in series or parallel lol, just as long as I know it works by connecting both positives and both negs to the correct battery terminals will do for me

Still put a fuse in each positive line though - too many people on here have suffered from not doing this.

Well, the short answer is one which accommodates the normal current taken by the motor but which will blow if a significant overload or short circuit occurs. So it all rather depends on your particular setup. have a look at the link Dicky D has posted, it's very helpful.

Fuse size- more than the motor needs, less than the ESC is rated at.
Note well that in the case of a dual setup, assuming that the normal practice of using one ESC's BEC to power the RX and isolating the other to avoid conflicts, if the fuse supplying the ESC with the active BEC goes, so does control. Action get round this by not using ESCs with built-in BECs, instead having a separate one or a separate RX battery.
