Post by: Tom@Crewe on November 28, 2009, 04:24:19 pm
Hi looking for some pictures of finished Fleetscale battle ships.

I did a search here and in Google but not much comes up.

Particularly intrested in British warships (HMS Howe)

It's been down since summer, which is when I purchased one of their semi-kits. So, I've never seen their forum up, infact.

I did once contact them asking about the forum. The answer was something vague suggesting that they're "working on it", which obviously cannot be true - I mean, 6 months now... Personally, I've given up on their forum altogether by now.

I think you're much better off trying to ask specific questions right here, odds are that some one will have an answer, unless your question is too abstract  ok2

Tom

Very interested to hear if you get any hits, i too have an HMS Howe still sat in the box the Fleetscale shipped it in.

I managed to purchase a full set of plans from the Imperial War Museum recently that should help a great deal on the build...

Also take a look at this build of HMS HOOD, outstanding quality and workmanship

I'm just in the beginning stages with my own, and I chose their hull+fittings mainly due to the neat actual size of the model. I would have preferred 1:96, but the hull simply would have not fitted in or out of my workshop (few tight corners to navigate and low sealing). I wanted big hull, as large as I could have given my space constraints, to develop my own electronics and to install mini-ITX computer as the heart of it all.

I do like the quality tho. It's leaps and bounds better resin and white metal casting than ...other manufacturers I have used. My hull was absolutely perfect, nothing to sand or fill - just completely fault free. Not even the tiniest imperfection. If that's their regular quality, I will be considering 1:128 scale again.

One other thing I would like them to do eventually, is to make at least one or two of their ships into complete kits. Something that based on all the information I have seen, they don't yet have. But it will be a loooong time before this project gets ready. I plan to use it to tinker with electronics for a very long time indeed  ok2

As for pictures, you're right. There sure doesn't seem to be much any pictures around on Fleetscale ships. Unfortunately I cannot help on that  {:-{

Complete kits? Do you know how much money it costs to do just one, I tried it with the type 45 in 1/ 96th scale, I was going to do it in 1/72nd too, but, I let Fleetscale do that in that scale , but, we are only small companies, if anyone wins the lottery and likes Our stuff, please invest.

Hi from Fleetscale.

Let's just clear up a couple of things on this thread.

If you want pics of Fleetscale model ships then it's up to you modellers to send them to me and I will put them on the website for everybody to see. There are a few on the gallery www.fleetscale.com/gallery

Unfortunately the gallery was hacked and damaged. I managed to make it useable but currently it is "frozen". What that means is I cannot add any new pictures. As the software is provided by a german company the support is not very good because their support forum is mainly in German and any pleas for help are ignored.

Then there's the question of the forum. The forum ceased to work when we moved all our websites from one host provider to another. As forums and galleries etc tend to use php scripting there are certain technicalties which are beyond me, thye new host did not have quite the correct version of php utilities for the forum to run.

I have set up a new forum but have not made it available because I'm not sure it would be used.

As for websites fleetscale.com is simply an entry site to the main site fleetscale.co.uk. From fleetscale.com there are links to "news", "gallery", "downloadable catalogue", and "ex MOD light weatherworks grey paint" in 500ml tins - the paint they use on the ships.

Hope this clears a few things up.

Update: The Fleetscale picture gallery is now working again, I have rebuilt it and it works {-)

I welcome pictures of your Fleetscale models and builds. You can upload them yourself on the gallery but you will have to register first. The pics need to be trimmed down to a max of 900 pixels wide and not as they come straight out of the camera. If you don't know how to do that send to me direct by e-mail and I will do it for you.

Hi

The Fleetscale Forum is now back. It's a new forum so anyone that was a member of the old forum would have to register again. Please have a look and if you are building a model warship using a Fleetscale hull or if your are thinking about doing so please register. Only by registering will you see all the content: http://www.fleetscale.com/sm2/ (http://www.fleetscale.com/sm2/)

The Fleetscale Forum uses the same SMF Forum as this one so you will be familiar with how it works - no messing about with Photobucket and suchlike upload pics straight to the forum. There are bonuses too, go see.
