Hy Guys
I have been looking around the web for a pounce wheel with inter changeable heads for making rivet detail. I cant find anything in the UK, any one have any ideas/links they could help me out with.

Hi Bosun,
I make my own rivet stamps, using old clock gears. Try to find some broken clocks, skips are a good source or a local jeweller may be sympathetic as many different sizes of sprockets and cogs are available.

When you check the Cammet site note they have 2 versions (size range) of pounce wheels. Second set looks larger. ???

By the way the Micro-mark ones do not have interchangeable heads, they are a set of three size wheels.

Thanks John and Bunkerbarge, I never noticed that, I could,nt order from them online as the Pounce wheels would,nt enter the shopping basket, so I was going to phone the order through tomorrow. I will have another look and see what the craic is.

Clock gears are OK...but they tend to have squareish ends on the teeth and need grinding down a bit.
Got a "Singer" sewing shop in your area? If so, try them. BY.

Squires site has been up since Jul 2009. I accessed it less than a fortnight ago when it had PDFs of the new catalogue. Maybe putting up the electronics cat that everyone is said to be awaiting.

The site was up 10 days ago with online access to PDF files of the catalogues. It has gone down since then although the shop is open as normal and presumably they are answering the phone. Their website has never been very sophisticated in the past as they rely largely on mail order only. They may be having technical difficulties with the great leap forward!

I have one which was purchased from a dress makers and thought I might as well try it. (having never used it)
I must say I wasn't impressed with the result. I tried running a line against a ruler and pushed the wheel up and down a few times on a piece of plasticard.
I found it never made impression through to the other side but left a row of holes on the face edges. Thinking the plastic was too thick, I tried a thinner piece which resulted in puncturing the rear side with a row of holes.
As the idea is to produce a row of round headed rivets, I figured the wheel must have rounded teeth, which would make indentation very difficult. I experimented with different table surfaces from chipboard to rubber mat and this does have a bearing on the problem, but still not satisfactory enough.
I've come to the conclusion that you need rounded edges on the wheel and heated to just below melting temperature and place the plastic on a 'giving ' surface. Run the blade once along the intended line and wait for it to cool. Hey presto, a line of rivets.
