Title: Marie Felling Navigation lights
Post by: monarch on November 30, 2009, 10:26:52 am
Hi
Managed to lose one of my nav lights on the Marie Felling, have received some new one's from Jotka but they don't contain any lens plastic.
Is this normal and if so whats the best way of making making some and if plastic sheet which type is best and is there any special paint to use?
Any help appreciated.
Lionel

Hi Lionel,
When I had my Marie Felling (many years ago) and I considered fitting working navigation lights someone advised (not sure whether it was on MBM) to go to WH Smiths (or any stationers) and buy a cheap ball pen with a clear moulded barrel that could be cut down to make lenses.  I bought a pen but never used it as I sold my Marie Felling.  I suppose with the coloured LEDs available now you could make some quite realistic lights. :-))

Hello Lionel,
ordinary clear plasticard will do, or even material from some packaging. Paint it withTamiya x25 Clear Green or x27 Clear Red as appropriate. By applying several coats you'll find you can deepen the shade until you get the effect you want. HTH

if you want Red/green lenses just cut them down , but the pens sound a better idea with red/green  bulbs
