Title: HMS Achilles
Post by: duttydozen on December 06, 2009, 10:17:18 am
So as not to hijack the Bismarck thread.
This is the Sirmar 1/96 Andromeda semi kit 'tweaked' into the Achilles as she was when i joined her in 1984

Leander they are more appealing than a T45 :-))

I like both, although I've just started gathering materials for my 1:72 Apollo.

If your doing 1:96 I would go for the 45, slightly bigger and a little more stable than the Leander at that scale.

Am new to Mayhem, and found the Achilles photos very interesting as am building a 1/96 Leander . of Minerva which I served on from 66-69. Can anybody confirm actual colour of Grey for UK Warships

Two very fine looking models there. Is Achilles intended as a static model?

Hi ! Duttydozen !
Great model of Achilles...
Having just joined, I would like to ask you if the after end of your flight deck/mortar well lift off? I am building Danae (F47) (which I served in '72/'73) and fixed after upper deck but then had to unglue/unpin it etc as one servo decided to go t*t* up. tried magnetic strip to hold it down but to get the "round-down" right it really needs filling and sandpapering and the magnetic strips weren't strong enough.  Any tips, please ?
Cheers !!
