Title: Noise comparison

Hello all . New to this forum . Planning to build a scale fast supply and wondering if waterjets are noisier than the usual prop ( using electric motors of the same power range).
Any clear advantages or disadvantages ? Thanks .

My experience is that noise in a model boat is strongly associated with the hull material. Wooden hulls tend to deaden sound - fibreglass ones are not so good - ABS and styrene hulls seem to act like a drum and really amplify the sound.

But apart from that I suspect that more revs = more noise.....

Agreed, jet units tend to have bigger & higher powered (higher revving) motors than for a boat of equilivent size but then again they go a lot faster!

Advantages.... speed and VERY shallow draft!
