Like Footski, Been there, done that and usually at night. No extra pay just your turn.
Thank goodness for all the nurses, doctors, police, soldiers, sailors and airman working on through the festive season and beyond.
Bless them all
-
Yeah, been there, done that, and worn the t-shirt! Don't forget all the services to your home too, electric, gas, water, and telephones, and doubtless others that we don't even think about. May they all have a restful Christmas period, and thanks to them all, no matter where or what they may be doing.

Me, at a university. But in China.
I can take the days off, but would then have to restructure my schedule to make up the missed lessons.
As my family won't be celebrating, I won't bother. I stopped putting the tree up after three years. I was only doing it for myself. :((

This will be the first Christmas and New Years Eve in ten years that I have not worked, because I have RETIRED!, I was a care worker with Adults with Learning Dissabilities for 16 years.
Prior to that I was a Plumber and Heating Engineer for 35 years, now thats what you call a change in direction.
Happy Christmas all.

This is my first time i`ll be working over christmas and new year. My normal job as a bricklayer has given way for a night watchmans job, half the money but i get to sit and watch TV all nigt, plus trawl the internet and do some modeling while getting paid :-)
Maybe i`m just getting old but working outside at this time of year is not much fun !

Mrs Toes is working 24th, 25th, 26th.. 7pm till 7am as a ICU nurse...
Our Christmas gets cancelled till about the 28th when we can both sit down together for our Xmas turkey..
So its probably a cheese sandwich for me for lunch on the 25th..
-
Not really the right topic heading is it?
Most of those who have to work over Christmas are providing services to those that don't; frequently in the public services or in organisations providing a service to the public.
Not mugs in my view.
I think they all deserve our appreciation and thanks and a toast on Christmas Day.
