Post by: yachtie2k4 on December 21, 2009, 09:14:29 pm
hey all,
just got the message from roger to introduce myself.
im rob and im from the central coast, nsw, australia (best area in the world  {-)) i have sailed all my life (being on boats from 8ft to 100ft wild oats xi). i am a shipwright by trade. i have had 10 rater for a few years and have built a auto canting keeled rc yacht based on the 10 rater.. am now looking at building a 1:25 scale model of a boat i helped build (Palm Beach 65, http://http//www.pbmy.com.au/range65_intro.html (http://http//www.pbmy.com.au/range65_intro.html). so it will be around 800mm long. i am also thinking about building a model of a 118fter called maiden hong kong.

i think the PB65 costs around the AU$6 million. yeah i am very proud to have helped build such a beautiful yacht. also to be able to work with some of the best shipwrights in the world was a fantastic experience.

to Steamboatphil.
i think the mast is on maiden hong kong is 34m.

I hope we get some pics of it underway. What plans for it, races, Sydney-Hobart etc ?

i doubt there are any plans for it nowadays. its 118ft so can't race in the syd hob. its owned by Frank Pong who owns like 2 TP52's and a heap of other boats. he also apparently pours alot of his money into sailing in Hong Kong.
