Title: Looking for Dido class Info (Books)
Post by: Tom@Crewe on December 24, 2009, 01:54:24 pm
Hi all

Have any of you got these books?

British Cruisers of World War Two & British Warships of the Second World War by Alan Raven & J. Roberts

I am told they contain scale drawings of Dido Class Cruisers. and as In the new year I plan to start building HMS Euryalus a Dido class.

And if so would it be possable to get a scan of the relevent pages.

These guys have the Profile Morskie book:

http://www.gpm.pl/eng/index.php?akcja=produkt&edycja=854

I have the Profile Morskie book for Argonaut and it is very good, with excellent drawings. You might also try and get a copy of "Ensign 2: Dido class cruisers" which is also very useful. There is a plan of Euryalus (1941) in British Cruisers and I could make a scan for you if you wanted. Regards.

Tom
You can buy a scale drawing in PDF from the profile Morksike web site for about 10 euros, with fittings decks etc. you can enlarge & print out as often as you like.
they email the plan to you.

http://profilemorskie.home.pl/WarshipPlansPDF.htm

they also sell a book with the same plans in but at a smaller scale.

If you buy the book the PDF plan is often discounted. I have bought a few.

Hi there Tom

My sincere apologies – I have a copy of this book (but it belongs to another Forum member) – anyway, I have scanned the drawing/s so you can have a look.   I am afraid my scanner seems to distort line drawings for some reason – so if you want anything else if you send me a PM with your email address, I will try and email them to you.   If not by my scanner – I will try and scan it direct to your email from another scanner.

Thanks Bluebird thats good and useful, the distortion is because the spine of the book is not flat to the scanner, but if you press it down you may damage the book.

UXB thats good info too, will the drawing be the same as in the Morskie book? Which I have just ordered from White Ensign. (which they now say is out of stock and I've got to wait (Undisclosed time) till they get it in) should have listened to rsm (sorry).

Tom,
yep the pdf plan is the same as the printed plan in the book, I use a basic CAD Program to scale up the drawings. the advantage is the clarity and theres no distortion  fom pressing a book down on a scanner or copier. I usually order direct from the Morskie  website good quick service.
