Welcome aboard Dusty,
were you thinking of a kit, if so which one, or a scratch build?

i there dusty have look at model slipway range of kits i have built fsb tenby like you AM complete novice found no problems have look photos on my profile link cheers larry ;)

Welcome on board. Model Slipways Trent may be a bit complicated as a first boat, why not try something a little easier. Their tug Dutch Courage is great to build and a nice boat, and will get skill levels up ready for a lifeboat. Keep us posted whatever you choose, any questions or problems, ask the forum, that's what we're here for, Dave. :-))

Trent is advertised as Expert Level by Model Slipway, and for good reason. If you want to get into building kits with GRP hulls and styrene superstructures then I would suggest their Shamrock. This was designed as an introduction to this type of construction - and it's a lot cheaper than Trent, too!
Suit yourself.

Have a look at this thread, it will give you an idea on what to expect from the kit.
