Title: Avatar usage
Post by: Jonty on January 18, 2010, 01:24:40 am
I spent a lot of time in India, and to me the word 'avatar' means one of the eight, nine, or ten (opinions vary)incarnations of the god Vishnu.

What is the significance of the film title? And how has the word come to be used for what used to be called a motif, and latterly a logo?

I don,t have a clue, why they decided to call it Avatar, all i know,is its Brill, but if you want to go down this road of "what" then it applies to everythng,"What do you use the word What for"?? where did it come from, where is it going,..ok its the way we are we ???everything,..me i,m as inquisitive as the next man,but i enjoyed this film for what it is not for "what"is the signifiance of the title"...this harks of,"mountains out of mole hills"

"In a virtual world, an avatar is a digital persona that you can create and customize. It's you — only in 3D. You can create an avatar that resembles your real life or create an alternate identity."
