Title: Priming wooden hull
Post by: Xana on January 27, 2010, 08:48:43 pm
Hi new here and a novice to wooden boat building. What is the best primer for a wooden hull static model. Its going under Humbrol Enamel and should I prime plastic parts as well. Thanks, Xana

Hi Xana
Welcome to Mayhemmers!
Suggest you use Sanding Sealer, one or two coats followed by a light sanding. Don't use this for plastic items, just an acrylic one.
Hope this helps
Brian

I have just been through this exercise on a ply hull and used a diluted white( PVA) glue. Seems to to work well with acrylic or cellulose spray paints.
Painted the "sealer", used a spray primer/undercoat and then top coated. Results seem OK.
