One of the members of our club built a Turbinia model. Built and fitted a steam turbine plant, I have seen it running, but didnt have a camera at the time. Next time I see it out, I'll try and get some pics.

Great photos Peter, I'm wondering if this is the model that Ian mentioned? I could become a 'fast steam man' having seen the model pics. :o I found this YouTube and it gives some idea of the the mini steam turbine, it's potential and sound. The triple installation in this 'Bobby Dazzler' model must be an impressive performer. :o

There is a large perspex panel in the starboard side of the hull which gives a 'cloudy' view of the engine room and the replica machinery. Sadly the flash on my camera reflected off the shiny surface of the panel and I failed to get any worthwhile internal pics. I'll certainly try to visit the next Harrogate show. :-)

It could be the same one, the Jensen one skin and rice pudding come to mind a very good steam whistle. have a look for some of Bogstandard's Turbines he shows the problems involved even with a well engineered model, I spoke to the late owner of Cheddar about these type engines he had tested a few and looked at them as a project and decided against them as they where very steam hungry, look at some of steam boat Phil's boats if you want fast steam, even some of the small high revving engines can make a boat go well Cheddar had a demo boat that was more like a fast electric, I am not shore if Underpresure would have seen it on several occasions

This model must be at least 8 feet long? I much admire the model steam boats - we have an amazing hobby. :}
The little Turbinia started a revolution in steam propulsion.
1897 Turbinia 44.5 tons / 2,800 s.h.p. .......... 10 yrs later 1907 Mauretania/Lusitania 40,000 tons / 74,000 s.h.p.
The last ship to use a Parsons propulsion system was HMS Glamorgan launched in 1964. :-)

No, thats not the same turbinia I mentioned, the one in our club isnt a museum quality model like that one.
