Im going to put LED's on my upper deck on my Sir Lancelot so I'm looking for a site where I can buy the downlighters to put the LEDs into to shine the light onto the deck around the the ship. Any help please.

Not sure what you have available over there, but these are available in America.

I don't know if this helps. It is a tip I picked up on a website. It may have been this one, but not sure.

I like the last suggestion, but how do you get the paint to 'take'?
Have been trying with enamels......are acrylics the answer?

Try the model railway section of fleabay and type in 'lights'. Red Bank Models ( Blackpool ) have a web site and they do them.

If you use surface mount led's they work well

Wallace's original query was about the downlighter, not the LED.
Best bet might be to do as the original did and form the cone from a circle, but use plasticard instead of sheet steel. Used in conjunction with Tiger's idea of painting and filing the LED should produce a good result. To help paint take, a bit of surface keying with a mild abrasive should help. Since the LED should not undergo continued handling, there shouldn't be a problem.
Bulkhead lights are something else again.

Something like this, although the fitting does need another coat of paint :-))

If you can post a sketch of the downlighter body you need (dimensioned) then I can check it against my CAD plans for the various Model Slipway kits. It might be possible to use or adapt one of Lawrie's white metal castings. I'm sure that Slipway would be only too pleased to supply you with a few.
