Hi all my ideal workshop would be 50ftx50ft with heating, lights, coffee on tap, phone to call for food, If only, have to make do with 6x7ft no heating, no coffee, no phone,
but ha-ho ,  size does not matter as long as your happy,  regards  from jersey,

I am just in the process of having an 8' x 8' (internal size) fully insulated workshop installed. It will have electrics, including a heater, no coffee machine, but with a cordless phone extension so I don't miss out on food O0. Should also be able to run a laptop out there if I wish. My last was just less than 8' x 6' which was a bit cramped. Its expensive .... but I reckon I'm worth it {-)

I have a 10ft x 12ft room, heated with computer, CD player, TV, phone and two fans. Shelves on two walls and bench on another and a 4ft x 4ft window.

Shelves are all full of boats and under the bench and the bench itself is  full of tools, materials etc.

I also use an old ironing board when I need to get all round the current boat which can also be raised and lowered.

I use a draughsmans chair.

Need a bigger room really.

8*12ft - heating/double glazed/electric/etc

Fitted with full size Smart and Brown lathe, pillar drill, grinder/full length work bench/compressor/assorted tools and a stationary engine (a project for a rainy day)

Always seem to have at least three jobs on the go - waiting for spares/painting.....

Not enough space for boat storage - the two IC ones are in the garage and the electric one in the spare bedroom, full size boat in parents garden.

As my wife tells me - to many toys and not enough space!!!

I think I will live in my workshop (22ft x 8ft) and move my workshop into the house, and it will still not be big enough !!!!!!!
How did I ever get on in a 8ft x 6ft shed with bench, lathe, milling machine, pillar drill etc etc all those years ago, and when I got my present workshop-----well you all know how it goes  :} no space left
If i was you destoryer42, whatever size you go for----------------------------------------
it will never be big enough
Be happy with anything.......... O0 O0

I've got my bedroom (average bedroom sized), the shed which is 8'x6' (and usually full of kayak), the loft (paintshop) and whatever room I can find on the patio in the summer. Just built an OMRA boat on the bed... My main problem is storage....

Phil's lying, his workshop is a 4'x3' dining room table ;D

Before |I married my workshop was 36' x 17'. I had to share occassionally with a broken car, but thatwas always a quick in out situation. Biggest model built was a Robin Hood 7 (lotus 7 lokk-a-like), And I stiil builta 4 meter gider wing in there in 3 parts!

As I said I got married, moved out and was not allowed a new shed till 2 years ago, a small 8' x 4' playhouse for kids!!, Just got it snug and cozy then took over the club shop and back to no where to build!!!!!

Waiting now to save some money so I build a 17' x 10' brick shed!!!......mine all mine.......

But where is the work done ??

Apart from spraying that's done in the garage - on the table that you see. It's my first kit - no timber work dust to deal with (yet!) but I do keep the vac handy :-)
I have to keep it a little tidy Peter in return for storage of the sub assemblies ------------------------ on the dinning room table %)
Good job she loves me :-))
