Title: Footie cabin?
Post by: tobyker on December 20, 2006, 10:10:46 am
I've seen the rules for the footie class, and some pictures of finished boats. Some appear to have deckhouses, which makes for a more easily sealed hatch. Does anyone know if these are allowed within the racing rules, or must the flush deck be within the measurement box?   ???

Hello tobyker.... a cabin is certainly allowed within the racing rules. I am not certain but I would interpret the rules as meaning that anything NOT considered part of the rig will be considered to be part of the hull. Therefore the deckhouse should fit within the box.

Thanks Graham - I can draw in some sheer then to take the maximum advantage from having to get the cabin top within the box. Looking again at the picture in the rules summary I see that the raised triangular structure out of which the mainsheet comes is within the box.
