Title: Broomfield park
Post by: Dueller on March 03, 2010, 06:41:47 pm
Seaport tug almost ready with new paint, radio gear. I have just to install a speed controller and then ready to go, however my girlfriend drove past broomfield park today and the boating pond has been emptied.  :((

Damm

That is where I take mine for their first bottom wetting, wonder why they have done that. There was a lot of weed in it last year, perhaps it is getting a clean

Managed to get hold of Dave who runs Broomfield Model Boat Club (not easy as we have just come out of an 1.5 hour power cut). He told me that they get the council to clean it at this time of the year as the equipment they use is a lot busier later in the year. Hopefully it will be up and running in a couple of weeks, or as soon as the council get the job done.

I live between Enfield and Barnet and have to drive past the park on my way to work. Will give a shout when it's in use again. Are you near?

I live in Oakwood and occasionally walk round Oakwood park. There is a group that are turning the pond into a bit of a wildlife type sanctuary and are planning on building jetty type things so that people can catch bugs etc. I will check it out but i dont want to cause problems.

I have looked on Google earth and there is Grovelands park just a little farther south.

I'm waiting for a speed controller to arrive so hopefully Broomfield will be nice and clean again by the time i'm all set up.

You also have Boxers lake, just need to avoid the swans.

There is also a swimming pool in Trent park, open to Enfield residents, although a little early in the season at the moment.

Happened to be going past Broomfield Park today and can report that the boating pond has now been fillled with the wet stuff.

Cheers,

Mike
