Title: Modern Type Ships Wheel.

Looking for a modern ships wheel, to suit my 1/32 scale Battler built on Mobile Marine Models Damen 1906 hull, any one any ideas. This is for the variety without spokes on the outside of the rim.

I 'modified' a speedboat steering wheel for my Sentinel 1:40 from SHG Marine. It's about 3/4 inch (19mm) which would give a 24" wheel at 1:32. Basically I just used the round wheel having removed the 3 spokes and hub. Made up a new hub and 4 spokes from plastic tube and rod. Finally painted the original orange with aluminium.

Not sure what diameter you're looking for. This one on e-bay would be easy to modify if its the right size.

I don't know what you call modern but most modern ships don't have a wheel.
They steer with a lever.

I work on a modern ship and have done all my life. 

I can assure you all the ships I have been on do have a ships wheel although, of course, they are somewhat different to the traditional wheel.  I suspect that some small vessels such as tugs may not have anymore but I would still expect it to be a preferred method of steering.

If there is any interest here I could take a picture of the wheel for your reference.

I wrote most modern ships, not all ships
There are always some old fashioned shipowners who stick to a wheel ;)
