...Hi Guys...
...Here is a wee picture of my latest model project...
"SCOTCH PRIDE" is a 1/32 scale model of one of a series of Dutch tugs known as the Dutch "P" Class.
"DUTCH PARTNER" & "DUTCH PRIDE" being 2 examples of this class...
So far the motors, shafts, props. fixed korts, sterrable rudders, bow thruster & decks have been fitted...The deckhouse is now half finished...
This is built from the information that i got from my request on Model Mayhem Forum...
...I hope you like it...Best Regards...Norry...

Looks like a good start!
Did you make the hull up?
I look forward to your photos of progress.
All the Best,
Mike (Victoria BC Canada)
-
...Hi Mike...Merry Christmas...
The hull is a Mobile Marine Models, "NANGEE" hull which has been re-shaped slightly...
I have other pictures of the build so far, but I have to get them re-sized before i can post them...
I,m glad you like it...
...Regards...Norry...

Hi Guys,
Just a dumb question, which is better, a steerable korts system, or fixed korts with steerable rudder,
I have no idea which is the better system as my tugs have steerable korts, I do not have a problem with them but I am curious...
Roy

keep them pics coming Norry looks like a nice tug you got there ;D
Jay
-
The steerable Korts are far better for steering astern, as fixed Korts dont have any directional thrust astern.
Bob
-
steerable korts every time (in my opinion) but im only a kid. norry that looks great keep it up mate and all the best to all on the forum :)
-
I agree, stearble korts every time, my Nangee is single steerable kort, in some ways manoevreing is easier with single steerable kort rather than twin fixed korts and rudders, unless you have a mixer fitted. Just picture it, standing TX in hand, trying to increase speed while turning at the same time, you do get used to it but many people end up with mixers fitted.

hi norry looks good have you tested her yet if so how did she do
-
...Hi Steve...
No Trials as yet as I have no test tank at work, But I have a bath at home...
I,m planning on tank, ( I mean Bath) trials on Tuesday Night to check ballast situation...Will fit batteries Tomorrow along with a few more fittings like Towing Gear & a removable Hiab deck crane...
I will need to spend a day checking over my 1/32 scale STANTUG as my single screw towing tug for next year...
Has John Pollet managed to buy a single screw tug yet ? ...There are a couple of possible candidates on E-Bay at present...
I,m looking forward to having another go this year...

Is this an Anglian Man Norry?, I am very impressed with the Anglian Man hull, very dry on deck considering the size of it, and it was a fresh day today, towed my barge very well. Maybe a 1605 next, single screw!!

Hi Norry.
think I've got fitted up with a single screw tug. A girl class tug from Bob,
Plus got my old fairplay back.
Thanks
John.

HI NORRY LOOKS GREAT . HOW IS SHE AT GOING ASTEARN I.E DOES SHE TAKE ON WATER ON THE DECK LIKE MINE ?
-
Big Colin swapped motors on the 'Nederland' Norry...going much better. He was towing & shunting the hull for the sheerlegs crane for about an hour this afternoon, we couldnt get him off it!!! Loves it!
-
Are you getting him ready for the big stuff when you come
south to Balne Moor HaHa.
John POLL

...Hi Guys...
I took a wee trip down to Largs pond this afternoon to give SCOTCH PRIDE a trial...
It was a bit too windy at the pond so just carried out ballast trials...Failed I,m afraid...Too much weight up forward...I will have to shift the batteries to longways right up the centre of the boat instead of both stored in the bow...
... Billy, I sent the couple a wee update on the TUG-IN. on 17th June...I would liked to have seen Colins trials..Good to see he,s having fun with the NEDERLAND...
...Steve, I,ll let you know about the decks getting wet going astern when I get her to go astern in water...It should,nt matter too much as the deck hatches are well sealed down...
Wee Johnny (my 7 year old son) is starting his Tug-Towing training next week so that Poll has someone of similar brain levels to compete with...See You All Soon...Norry...
-
Don't think the wee boy will want to come south for his training norry.

Looks very nice, what is the wood that you use for the superstructure, and how do you get it to look so unwood-like when finished. :)
-
...Hi Flybobby...
The wood is 1.5mm Plywood from the local model shop...
After rubbing down i gave it a couple of coats of White Plastic Primer from Halfords...
I hope this answers your questions.
...Best Regards...Norry...
-
Thanks norry, will give it a try when I get to that stage of the build. Much prefer working with wood than plasticard. ;)
