Hi.
Just a general enquiry. What figures ( actions being done ) would you put on your model to make it come to life. I am thinking of adding some to my Missouri and am looking for ideas apart from the obvious positions. Also does anyone know where to get 1/96 figures.
Thanks.
Adrian.

Kiwi96 I crew all my models to make them come to life even write the crew up in my build books for the location that they work at some of my favs are fore deck washing down the anchor chain working the capstan, crew attending to the life boats ,flag officer and signal flag crew, gun crew of course ,bridge nav crew of course, lookout up mast,my famous one infamous is one of the crew taking a leak over the side complete with fishing line leak as you do at sea,the aircraft on board have crew and crew helping to get it ready, always have a cook either on deck or in door way, even have a crew member coming up a deck hatch,I really like that frozen look in time won a model competion once for crew on deck over a most amazing model tug boat that was one of the best I have seen in 40 odd years of model boating. So add crew my 1/32 German Flower Class anti flak ship will have 80 odd crew shown post some photos of the crew placement tassie48.

You can also check out Hobbyco in Sydney.
These are in HO scale, not too far off 1:96.

These are Faller Scenery Accessories, but they also have a big range of Noch figures, not all applicable to shipping but.......
You may have to repaint etc. as well.

Here is my 40mm gun with a few of my new figures. There will be about 3 more for this mount. I have made the figures from scratc. 1/96 scale. Also made a tiltable 20mm cannon and crew.

Will be making in white metal and looking at manning all 40mm and 20mm guns on my Missouri. Should be about 200+ figures.
Cheers,
Adrian.

Well finally got all figures finished and have had the first run from the spin casters.
Photos are of some prior to making the mold.
The 20mm cannon is positionable to any angles and a separate base pedestal and support is supplied to elevate gun as the angle of fire increases.
I will be posting some photos once painted a few up and placed in position on the ship.
With the spin casting I am looking at placing around 200+ on my Missouri and then on my current build the Richelieu.

WOW nearly 2600 views and only 5 comments. Then there must not be too much demand for people to man their warships. Have had the first batch back from the spin casters and look great. Currently getting a set painted to photograph with the model to show the full effect.
Will post when done.

You could have a look at the 1/96 cast scale figures in marine clothing from Deans Marine.

12 per set. I have all my warships crewed by them.

Beam is only 89 mm on this model, so not easy to photograph such small detail, but here goes ...

A lot of sailing mileage on this 1906 HMS Amazon. Decks need a good squab down. :D
