Title: Type 26

The Type 26 is to be the replacement for the Type 22 and Type 23. In my view it is a nicer looking ship than the Type 45 but what would I know about it? I think it's weaponry may be more capable as it will be fitted with a launch silo capable of launching cruise missiles or similar land attack missiles unlike the Type 45 which does not have that capability.

The type 45 has the allowance made in the design for land attack missiles and a larger gun than the 4.5".  there isn't enough detail in the current announcement to understand what anti aircraft system is being proposed but the main radar looks like it is the NMMR 996 follow on rather than a Sampson derivative so that would be a definite step down from T45 capability.
