Help has anyone built htis kit as I am at the moment threatening to take bloomin big hammer to it!!!!Having purchased this part built Tug s/h it was fitted with a kort nozle no motor,deck had been fitted!!!!superstucture poorely built so it was back to teh drawing board.Having fitted a MFA 6;1 motor 12v batt reciever,and servos etc it was time for the bath test,all well and good,had to ballast the stern to get the kort in the water(this is where the problems start)well it was time for proper testing so down to the lake I went,oh bloomin heck water all over the deck far too low in the water!!!!back to the drawing board,plan b change from the 12v batt to 6v change motor remove some rear ballast try again,not enough this time kort out of water,what I anm getting at is when it is ballasted to get the kort in the water as soon as forward motion is started water seems to be very close to the deck level and generally come over.Has anyone else had this problem with this model or is it just me!!!!.If i cant cure it I will remove kort and propshaft and scrap the flippin thing help

If no one steps forward an idea is to look on the SWAMBC site for the Shepton Mallet Drifters MBC. One of their members has one which works quiet well as he enters stearing competitions with it. As I have seen one at a reggatta last year.

The motor/gearbox you have fitted works better on 12v, really it should be a 2.5:1 gearbox. You may find that you are putting torque on the prop so it is pulling the 'bottom' end of the boat down. Try contacting cauldercraft and find what motor they recommend. You could try a low drain motor direct drive.

we've had ours on the water for about a year with no probs, useing a 540 moter on 6v 10 ha batt we had trouble bring it down to the water line. only trouble we had was a little water coming up the tube.

These smaller models perform far better on direct drive.
A 380 is big enough for this model, but I would fit a 545 on 6 volts.

I run my Riverman on direct drive, with 385 motor and 7.2 volt nicad, great steering boat.

Right then just spent over an hour trolling through 40G of photos and have found the only 2 that I have of the Riverman.She was powered in the end with a MFA 6;1 Ratio geared motor swinging a 60mm Kort nozzle with a 12v 7amp batt and she would run 4hrs+ with this set up.Yes fair comment it was overpowered but that is how I like them,my ans to everyone is do you by a Ferrari and drive it flat out all the time.Heck NO,you can never have to much power

My Riverman you will note is not exactly correct it!,the hull had been butchered to this side profile by the previous owner.I initially bought it off eaby just to get the Kort, but everytime I looked at it,it grew on me and I ended up having to cobble everything up.I must admit I was to tightfisted to by hte full fittings kit off caldercraft to do the job properley.If there is one model I regret selling is this one :'(
