Title: submersible camera
Post by: submate on April 20, 2010, 09:30:33 pm
Does anyone know of a suitable, cheap camera that can attatched to my seawolf. I have been told that Aldi did one that went down to 3 meters but I havent found it. Any observations, comments welcome. :o

Personally i wouldnt bother with that one, it was an action cam with very low resolution although it was waterproof to 3 metres, ideally you need a wireless 2.4ghz camera (480-520 tv lines) with either a cluster of bright white led,s or infa red led,s.  Fit the camera in a clear waterproof enclosure and extend the aerial so it sits on a ping pong ball or similar on the surface of the water.

If you can fashion a small watertight case, the little 808 keychain cameras can be purchased off of ebay for well under a tenner.

These are tiny enough for all but the smallest of models, and the picture quality is very good for such a small and cheap item.

Here is a great site with a lot of information on the cameras-

Morgan Computers are doing this micro camcorder for £19.99, I have seen them on ebay for 3 times as much.
I bought one and have put in on my RC tank and RC car, it records at 30 frames per second and is decent quality with sound.
I am going to try it on a boat next....
