Heres a challenge for a Saturday afternoon. Can anyone lay their hands on one of the old aluminium fluorescent light starter cartridges ?
I need to know what the Diam and the Overall Length is please.

It's been a while since seeing/using the alu' ones, but my take is that they were/are the same dimensions as their modern plastic counterparts.
For what it's worth, the dims' of the plastic ones are 0.834" (21.2mm) diameter x 1.36" (35.5mm) length... plus another 0.15" (3.8mm) for the two pins.

Very many thanks , Boys (well I guess you must be Boys if you don't remember Alli cases!!!!!) although I'm very surprised that Martin doesn't remember them (Yeah, Right!!!!!)  ;)
I am , however , grateful to you all for taking the time to help me out, I did wonder if the new plastic versions were the same but I had to be sure.
