Title: Starboard prop - Question?
Post by: budgie on May 08, 2010, 07:39:23 pm
Hello all,

Might be a stupid question but i'm going to ask it anyway!

I have a 1:16th severn under construction and am about to take to the water for the first time next week, i have the starboard motor turning so the prop turns outwards but i'm worried that as it turns the prop might unscrew itself.
I am using 35mm 3 bladed props from robbe.

What set-up for connecting the starboard prop do the the guys in the know use?

Thanks

Magnus

Hi Magnus.

I'm not in the know yet, but I use a lock nut. That's just an ordinary nut behind the propeller tightened against it. I do the same the other end too to stop my screwed shafts winding themselves in and out of the couplings.

Lock the prop to the locknut and for double security use Loctite Thread Lock.
