Hi, anyone have any tips how to deter foxes, they a reaping havoc in our garden. They appear to have a den under a shed in a garden that backs onto ours.

High pitch squeek, PIR detection etc.
They run off devour 6 AA batteries or use a 9 volt psu
2.8 amp hour Nimhs should last several weeks.

I'm dead surprised that a man of your knowledge hasn't been down the Council Office and sifted through the appropriate forms for bumping-off wildlife already.
What will you do if it turns out to be a vixen? And what if she happens to have cubs?

You can borrow my Rottie for a while.
She just loves Foxes.
We have had to rescue a few from her.

I have no intention of bumping-off any wild life, I have already contacted my local Council their reply was;
Controlling urban foxes is difficult, expensive, and never successful In the past a number of Local Authorities tried this, but most have now given up any form of fox control. The problem is that foxes have been in urban areas for so long that they have reached a state of equilibrium, and regulate the size of their own population.
Foxes now seem to be very domesticated, they stand on a shed roof just watching our dog trying to get at them.
I have a STV 626 sonic repeller which works on my dog but not on the foxes.

I too picked that up on the interweb and the last couple of early mornings have been spent wandering round the perimiter in my dressing gown, doing what comes naturally ! Amazing how you remember that special accident - avoiding walk from small boy days :embarrassed: . Early days yet but no further smelly messages so far, foxes poo is something else !

Pour broken glass in their holes. <*< Works on rats, too. But somebody has to catch the fox/rat first.

In California we (the men) were told to pee on the fence to keep coyotes away. It seemed to work. I don't know if you can get away with that in suburbia UK

My garden is not overlooked so I could 'strut my stuff' so to speak without the risk of arrest. :o So far Reynold has kept his distance, next question is, how long does the scent last ? or do I wait until he/she turns up again and leaves a token of appreciation ! >>:-(

My wife queried the number of empty beer cans
in the box outside my shed.
I told her I needed a full bladder to spray the fence to keep the
foxes out.
'what foxes ?' says she 'we dont see any foxes around here'
No says I 'The beer is doing it's job'

When I lived near Chester Zoo I used to scrounge elephant and lion dung. When spread around the garden it deterred the local cats and foxes and did the garden good. You don't need a lot.

I bet it deterred the neighbours,burglars and doorstep salesmen as well %% %% %% %%

Just a quick update on the 'ultimate deterrent' (aka wee !) Over a fortnight now since anointing the garden borders and nary a fox or cat has been seen. Now we have had the first rain shower I suppose I had better get ready to renew it, but I would say it is definetely a good, cheap O0 solution (solution - geddit !)

From what I have seen in UK, men seem to pee wherever they want to, day or night! If you were near a Pub you could Hire your Garden out for a Saturday Night, or have a Football Party with lots of Beer!
