Title: Type 21 Falklands Paint Scheme
Post by: Otama on May 24, 2010, 01:22:29 am
Hi,
I'm scratchbuilding a 1/144 model of a Type 21 Frigate and I'd like to paint it from the Falklands War era.
Could anyone please tell me what the correct colours for the hull and decks would be and preferably in Humbrol numbers?
Thanks

Humbrol don't do the correct colours for post WW2 RN ships. You can get accurate enamel paints from the link below -

Thanks Niall,

I have now spent a fair amount of time trawliing the web and for anyone else wanting to know the answer.
I have discovered Humbrol 64 and 127 are the two colours people seem to use.

Back in 1982 I was living in Sunderland and a friend obtained some samples of the paint used by Swan Hunters to paint RN ships. This paint had a destinct greenish tint which was no match for Humbrol 64.
