Has anyone used the above to lube prop shafts.
I had to use my chain saw today for the first time in many months, (well that 5mm planking gets boring with a razor saw). When I olied the chain I noticed the oil seemed to be just a little thicker than 3 in 1 and thought it might serve the purpose.

I use Fishing reel grease.

... my solution is a silicone-oil. Waterresistant and cheap as well. I found a thick oil better than grease, as oil soaks in any seam and find his way to the bearing, as grease just "sits" before the bearing as a clot.

Grease is just a thick oil, and oil is a thin grease ;)
Aerosol spray grease would be good as it penetrates, the propelant and evaporating carrier ingredient takes the grease to the bearing. The white grease you get for doing car door locks and hinges, is waterproof too.
