Hello Again,
Now I have sorted a friend I hope to make a start on my own model now.
I have plans of an oil tanker which I hope to make a static model of. The full size ship is 384 feet long and I want to make a 30 inch long model. It has been 40 years + since I did any calculations of this sort by could some find person out there recheck my calculations. If the model is 30 inches and the full size is 384 feet I work it out to be a scale of 1:154

Hello Royland, that's correct, but it's a bit of a "non" scale. I would suggest 1-144 which would give you a model 32 " long and is something that existing models are made to and certain steel rules have on them. I.E. if you have 12ths on your rule, you have 1/144th scale effectively. I know my rule has 12ths. Otherwise you could use 1-150 scale. I have a rule with that on though it is a scale rule to start with and is, of course, metric, which your tanker ma be if it's not that old.
