there a 5 differant designs according to the drawings but the drawings give no other real information
of them to allow them to be built accurately.

As the configuration of the boats on the QE2 changed over the years it would be worthwhile knowing what year he is modelling the ship in.

Gingyer, here are some photos of 2 different types of QE2's boats, which I took in 2008. I don't know if they are different from those of 1992, but they may be of some help.

Those people sitting on top look a bit precarious! I took the pics below in 2007 as the ship was reaching the end of her service  life. You can see four different types  of boat including those posted by Peter above.

From a quick look at other pictures I have in books it would seem that the outfit of boats varied quite considerably over the years, particularly as regards the tenders.

He is using the model maker plans originaly at 1:200 scale but he has enlarged them accordingly

Without having access to my own books all I can say is that the boat configuration was quite different in '82 to how she was later.  The large tenders with the seats on top for instance were a much later addition.

Interestingly enough I'm pretty sure it was '82 when she had the grey hull briefly after returning from the Falklands and underwent a significant refit.  The QE2 is quite a challenge to build as she changed in so many ways over the years with such additions as the penthouse suites, the magradome, funnel, tenders etc..  You really have to decide a specific date and then try to find as much as you can of her at that time.  On the plus side there are dozens of excellent books on her so there is no shortage of reference material a lot of them being on sale in the bookshops of any of the current Cunard ships or via more specialist bookshops such as those advertise in Sea Breezes or Ships Monthly.  Either of those magazines would be a good place to identify suitable bookshops.

Hi Gingyer

It sound's like he has the same set as I have . Thanks for asking.
Here are some web sites that cover her for most of her life. You will just have to take the parts that are of her in 1982
