Post by: Ian Robins on June 11, 2010, 06:50:32 pm
Hi all.

Can anyone do me a quick drawing of how to center tap two 6v batteries to give 12v.

I think i know the idea but the grey stuff in my head hurts today

You simply connect them in series so:

Positive lead to the positive of one battery, the negative from that battery to the positive of the next one and then the negative from the second one is your negative terminal.

Connecting in series adds the voltages.

A word of caution though, both batteries should be similarly charged and the same configuration, especially as regards capacity.  Safest is simply two identical batteries.
