It really needs it - I went down to the lake this morning to see Bryanyoung and you could
see more weed than water - hope the council get stuck in with the cleaning soon.

Hallo, In the latest issue of our local paper is a report which states that the Council is to drain and empty the silt out of the lake. I hope it also includes all the other rubbish that has been dumped over the years. I only hope that it happens.   Nemesis

Hi Nemesis, This sounds like an extreme remedy. Some lakes are plagued by this alge growth while others have crippling weed growth and some don't appear to have either problem. Some sort of university research initiative/programme might identify exact causes and enable a less drastic (and eco friendly) solutions. A large local lake (Leazes Park) was drained and refurbished recently and it was a huge undertaking with several months of disruption and mess - they dredged up a skull and a practice Mills bomb in the process.  %) :-)

Hi Perkassa man, there is about 18" of silt in the lake, it has taken 60 years to get that thick, apart from the rocks, bins, barbed wire that shredded my waders & other crap that people dump in it. The only viable solution is to empty it completely & get rid of all the detritus. You got a bargain when you bought that boat, it is so aptly named, took a while for his hand to heal, hope you have fun with it.
