Title: Wee Nip....is it a....
Post by: Koldness on January 13, 2007, 07:52:57 pm
Hey all,

Is the Wee Nip a good starter scratch build from plans boat?  Just the plans and am thinking about a build.  What do you think?

Thanks Kris

Wee Nip was the second yacht I built (of two so far). I found it quite easy and relatively quick (after I built the hull upside down twice  :-[ my fault I marked the top edge as top and then kept it to the top when assembling the hull with the deck on the bench - stupid boy I did it twice!!).

I built her 4 years ago and she is still going strong. I made some small modifications to the boom to mast fixtures and used dowel instead of aluminium tube for the mast, other than that she is pretty much as the plan. She sails well in medium to strong winds.

I say go for it, I don't think you will find an easier build for a yacht.
