Title: Ratlines
Post by: longshanks on June 19, 2010, 10:30:00 pm
Hi Folks,

Can anyone tell me the spacing for ratlines on the standing rigging. I don't imagine it makes any difference but its for a 60' cutter.

Hi Folks,

Since they're intended for climbing I suspect that the spacing would be similar to that on a ladder or a bit wider.   I've not measured the spacing on my Colin archer but simply took it off the plan.   However I think it's about an inch which would make sense with what I've said above I think.

Ratlines on real ships  Traditionally were 11 inches apart On British ships and for some reason 13 inches  {:-{ apart on French and German ships and 12 inches  {:-{ apart on some Scandinavian ships.... You really pays your money and takes your chances
