I'm researching the old R1 inboard 1 litre hydro class known as R, R1, HR1000.
My main interest is in the early boats of Burt Noone up to the boats of Andy Chesman.
Marauder or Blu-Fin plans would be great or pics of the underhull areas.

A french gentleman is restoring an R1 on the Vintage Hydroplane site http://vintagehydroplanes.com/englishhydrorestored.html Three pages of pictures shows bare bones, just like a big model.

I see there is a Yahoo Group which might be interesting. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/inboardhydros/

Hi Arrow5, I think the one being restored by Olivier Guerin is an American Ingram Y class. Inboard 1 litre, yes, but very American!
I was ploughing through my 1974 Motorboating yearbook at the quack's today and found an interesting couple of pics of Basketfield's World Championship boat, a Marauder and Colagni's Manta, but of course they're all in the water.
I will try Stewartby for info as it was there that I got a lead on a real one, but the owner had burned it a week before!!
Keep trying.

Welcome indeed. Any memories of Windermere Speed Record Weeks as well as the cicuit racing ? The R1 class is an unsung class to the majority, time to change that, great racing.
