Yep, did mine several years ago <:( and needed surgery to repair the rupture. Still got a nice long scar on the back of my left ankle as a momento.
If you're limping and this condition doesn't improve despite 100% rest cure, you'd be wise to seek medical help.

Back to the hospital later so they can have better look and decide whether to operate or put it in plaster. {:-{ Got temporary cast now from the knee down and had enough of it already,can deal with the pain but being pretty immobile is MOST frustrating. >>:-( Could be off work and out of action for upto 8 weeks,think will have cabin fever by then! :(( :(( Dave

A BIG plaster cast plus 6 - 8 weeks rest cure are the bonuses to expect after an operation - you lucky fella.
So start planning for your enforced idleness. {-)

Got a loft full of unstarted kits, just got to be nice to the boss so she will get them down for me! %) Got to finish off Our Lass 2 first. Been signed off for 6 weeks for a start!! Glad I've got wheels on my chair in the workroom! Dave {-) {-)

Well seen the specialist today and got another 5 weeks in plaster,boo,then start physio. At least I should be cast free for the Warrington show. Getting bored now sitting around the house. Off to Torquay on Thursday for a 6 day break booked before the accident. Just glad I've got such a great better half to help me about. Ho,hum,getting there at least I suppose, Dave.

It's an ideal opportunity to do work seated at the workbench, but where oh where does one put the bl..dy leg coz there's no way the offending limb can be articulated and kept out of harm's way {-).
-
Nasty, 6! hope it mends soon but do what the medics tell you - a daft woman we know bust hers but would not stay still and started trying to drive before the drs said she should - she was out of action for months and all her own fault! Be patient, and give it time to mend. best wishes!
-
got plenty of stuff to do at the workbench,can put leg up on a stool to keep it raised,not too bad really. have been loaned a wheelchair so don't have to use crutches thank goodness all the time. strange how you miss the little things like walking and driving! dave

Whilst you'll miss driving etc you definitely won't miss the the itching that goes with a cast. %% An old blunt knitting needle comes in handy! {-)
-
Got a good selection of long cable ties for the itching, best use found for them yet!! :-)) :-))
-
Finally, the cast should come off today after 7 weeks!!!! %% Then start physio.Can't wait. %) %) At least I'll be able get about a bit more easily. Good timing, I'll be mobile for the Warrington show!!! Dave O0 O0 O0
-
How does it feel Dave, have you stop that relieving scratch yet? ok2
-
First thing I did when I got cast off was to have a good scratch-sheer bliss!! Sitting at home now soaking it in hot bowl of water-wonderful!! :-) :-) :-) The simplest things really are the best, or am I just getting old?? %) Got 5 weeks of physio now to look forward to. Off tomorrow down Eastbourne way housesitting with the better half for a few days. Got to make the most of it!! Back for Sunday, heading to the Warrington show hopefully. Going there with 6705russell, see you up there?? Dave. :-)) :-)) :-))

Well nearly 12 weeks after doing it and I'm still off work... Getting bit frustrating now as can walk fairly well and can drive a fair way, but still can't put full weight on it or climb stairs properly or do ladders... %% As my part time job is firefighter not doing ladders yet is keeping me off call. {:-{ {:-{ if I can't climb or drive properly then my full time job as HGV driver is out of the question too. Want to go back work but been told by physio and docs that can't rush it or I'll be back in plaster again. Think I'm suffering from cabin fever, will start behaving like Jack Nicholson in The Shining soon..... %% %) %%

Hey Number6
Many years ago i broke my knee cap when i tripped over a caravan tow hook up, I wasn't looking and whoops bang I landed flat on my knee, ambulance came and dragged me away, I had sereral surgerys to it and ended up having a few pins holding the broke parts together.
I was in a cast for 8 weeks 2 of those i was bed ridden and it took a further 6 months to learn to walk again, after a further year i was fine but on cold mornings it really plays up {:-{ in my bordom of not being able to work i became a bit of a tv vegetable and back them with only 4 channels it was boring!
Only issues i have now apart from cold mornings is that everytime i visit an airport i get pulled to one side and serched as i keep setting the alarms off :}
-
At least not got any pins in it I suppose, not resorted to watching daytime TV yet. I think Jeremy Kyle would be the end of me!!! %% %%
-
It could have been a whole lot worse, {:-{
Wullie
It could have been mine, %%
get well soon,if its anything like sciatia which i get then,better you than me
-
Ruptured mine in march 09 had an op on it april this year, still not right been told i may have another op.It takes a long time to get back to being as near nomal as i have found. Take care.
Regards Dave.
