I saw this photo elsewhere but no details were attached. Will somebody tell me what her role is?

Jim,

Thanks for info. I tried a search but came up with very little. I see she is listed as "Training and Support" but as her bulk and deck capacity are nothing spectacular and yet she can accommodate up to 88 pax, does the training role come first?

Hi Barry,

Further to the builders site info you are correct. She is designed as a replacement for SD Newton to support training operations.

According to British Warships and Auxiliaries 2010/11 she has a complement of 16 and accomodation for 72 but I suspect the builders site is more correct for some reason ;)

                 The  SD VICTORIA. Is a anchor handling tug / supply craft, build by Damen .83 x 16 x 4.1 m.

She is part of the group of these(bottom link)  from Plymouth Dockyard, shes currently based at Wemouth under going sea trials i have not seen her around here i will keep a look out over the next few days we have several ships due in this weekend.( I see the dockyard from my front window) she will be moving to join Plymouth's fleet of tugs soon  :D

 The S.D.  VICTORIA is a anchor handling tug  /supply craft ,built by Damen.
                             She is 83 x 16 4.1 m

I am intressed in tugs and finding alot of information on this forum as I will try to build my first tug very soon, but I am not understanding how she is a anchor handling vessel with the back end without a roller ?

Maybe I am not seeing thing correct.

Wondered about that myself. There is no reference to a stern roller in the detailed spec.

Looking at the specs, she only has 2 x 5 tonne capstains.

She is NOT a tug.
She is a Training Accommodation Ship.
As a direct replacement for SD Newton
