Just watched the new BBC series: Sherlock :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
Great plot, great acting, great modernisation of the Great take on the Arthur Conan Doyle stories.
Nice to see Martin Freeman in a good role too.

Waste of model making time!!!
-
I'm with Martin. :-))
A very enjoyable and refreshing revamp of Conan Doyles masterpieces. I look forward to the remainder of the series.
But it certainly wasn't a waste of modelling time; a nigly litte problem (model related) that was irritating and frustrating me at 7.45pm last night
was solved at 11.00pm when I was again out in the workshop.
And now the part is made. :}
Relaxation removes obsession!! %)

I like the old Jeremy Bret series. He really captured my impression of Sherlock Holmes.
It'll be quite a while before we get the new one over here, but I'll look for it in the future.

Basil Rathbone was my favourite.

I thought that Sherlock last night bore an uncanny resemblance to the computer hacker Gary MacKinnon.

Agreed Colin, a cinch for the part when they make "The Hacker Story" film. {-)

I thought it was one of the Beebs better recent attempts...

Yes, 10 / 10 :-))

Is there ANYTHING more intelligent / better written than BBC's Sherlock series?!!! <*<

We really enjoyed it but I do find these very, VERY short "series" frustrating. Last night's was the third of three episodes! I was just getting in to it. >>:-(

Here, here!

It seems to be the norm now.
Endless series of reality shows
but Drama series which used to be
up to thirteen weeks now have three or four
episodes and disappear for a year.
The reason may be that these days all drama
seems to be outsourced from small production companies

I heard the short length of the series being discussed on Radio 4 the other day. The reason given was that in order to achieve the desired complex story lines to high quality each episode is very long, 90 minutes or so. In terms of workload they likened it to making three feature films which sounds about right.
I thought it was excellent and although it's a shame they're over, what was delivered was excellent. So let's have less 'reality pap' and more quality programming in general - although 'pap' is my signal to drift off to the workshop O0 :-))

Truly excellent , and nice to know that the third series was commissioned at the same time as the second so there's more to come :-)).
Now, as Steven Moffatt has been involved with this and Dr.Who did he sneak the Tardis into a scene from The Hounds of Baskerville ? :}

I couldn't work out what was going on, but I do hope that the ITV follow up their one off Endeavour with a series........not that I did understand, and it was brilliant......nice twist at the end, too.
