As my first build is progressing nicely, im musing over whether or not to build a springer tug?
in between time, Ive spent the weekend reading all the springer tug posts, and it was very entertaining.
actually I think theres a deep rooted plot to convert people to build at least one springer? I digress
whatI want to ask is;- has any one got any ideas about the scissor lift that container pushers use to see over
containers, wheelhouse that is. maybe this thread should go in the springer tugs section yours in anticipation Tony :-)

I can send you some photos of the one I've just completed for my pusher. It's based on the Egrete mechanism designed by Dave Metcalfe. My hull is different, but I used his mechanism. I have a write up I've just done for my MBC - I'll mail it if you are interested.
BTW - on recent trips on the Rhine and Rhone I didn't see any scissors mechs, they were all like the attached.

I have built an "egrete" rhine pusher tug and YES have managed to get the full bridge mechanism to work with simply using one metal geared servo too.
the "dave metcalf" plans used were ok, but left all about setting up the lift mechanism to the builder.
let me know if you want full details.

Just a short video clip of my egrete pusher tug, to give you a clue as to how it both looks and works so easily, once you get the links and servo just right!
