Tamiya colour white (x-2) gloss or xf-2 flat white are not off whites, and tamiya Dark Grey xf-24  drys quite light, i find that flat paints work out very nice for military crafts. i justed painted the super structure of the gato class sub with it comes out a treat  :-)) in regards to the colour scheme british landing crafts are ALL dark grey ( i see them regually from my window when the navys doing exercises) but there are varaiations of a dull green, green and sand, green & light blue and a white and black

The scheme may depend on the year of the craft . IE ww2 or moden day in regards to ww2 the paint was a flat light grey with bold white lettering

these are the official colours of the landing crafts from the d-day landing most images are b&w so its very hard to tell if the colour photos are accurate, if you know anyone involved in the landings they may be able to tell you the colours, but I'm not sure if they will want to relive those memory's.
