I saw the Harrier - where's Castle Motors?
-
On the A38 just before you get to Liskeard from Plymouth on the way to flamin Trago mills (Don't arsk) >>:-( It's on the LH side of the road, in a dip. If you don't know where it is, you usually catch sight of it in the rear view mirror having passed it. (Prophet lives close to my eldest in Cornwall)
Regards Ian

you on about the one towards liskeard?
thats been there for donkys years i remeber it was there when i was 6 years ond and going to trago with the family, surprised its still there, and not corroded away .. proably the paint holding it together now. i dont think there are any other planes around here locally on display theres a boat funnel from a tug on the roof of the Torpoint boat yard it used to be a 14 foot grp cruiser untill recenlty.
i have a question for you Ian, do you know anything about the sunk boat in the tamar. you always see it its half sunk in the ground and its lop sided on the water surface even at high tide. i remeber it when i was younger being there floating then it just sunk from what i understand but yet in the past 15 years they have done nothing to raise it or remove it. its become quite a feature now, i think it may be some kind of break water barrier for the yachts docked closer to the shore? i have photos of it in the fore ground from the navy days show last year, some nice boats on the water.. i'll post...
Theses are just a few of the pics from last years navy days water show, photos taken from Torpoint side rather then in the dockyard.. once you been round a few times .. nothing really new to see. now i just watch the show from the bank for free :D
You can see the sunken barge to the far left any idears what it was/is/ and why its still there?

First pikky is a good shot of a shy talk, {-). Used to be one if not two Lightnings in a yard to the left on the Devonport side coming from torpoint, cleared, pulled down and are now "New" flats. Haven't noticed the wreck, will check. Remember sitting in the Fleet Club, having tea and watching the "New" HMS Amazon sailing into the dockyard. %%
Regards Ian.

for the boat go onto trawlerphotos follow the link on my sig and as 376dazzer or Martin Johns,Ffarquhuar on here am sure they will know the wreck you are on about and will have to keep my eyes peeled for the Lightening the next time I am in Cornwall ,always go to Trago on the second or third day down for the butchers

Thanks, Circlip. I had assumed it was around the Bradford/Queensbury area.

i too remember the plane at castle motors , im suprised its still there . iit was used as a local landmark one night as a local bobby gave his directions to a house thats behind the garage ! delivering baggage from lulsgate (bristol airport ) very late one night / early in the morning . four many months devon & cornwall became my home , OR at least the laybys & truck parks were .

OK., for them as wants to goggle, "Castle Air Charters" St Germans (No it isn't, it's nearer Liskeard, but thats what it says) and on Goggle earth, 50deg 24min 58.56N 4deg 23min 43.15W will land you on top of XS936 - F6. and although the scan date is 5th Mar. 2006, it were there 2 weeks ago.
I find that looking out of back window when being driven by DIL is much more relaxing.

What a splendid relic from the cold war apparently years before its time. Love to park
one outside my house but just may get some complaints

as long as its within your property boundary and does not obscure anyones view from there own homes, they cant say anything about it :-))

A guy in my village has the lightening that Jeremy Clarkson had in his garden, now in his garden, along with the nose cone of another fighter (not a plane expert so I couldn't tell you what it is).
