There's a couple of these in harbour here, I took some snaps of both for anyone interested in them, let me know and I'll e-mail them to you.

That heli. platform certainly makes them ugly! Must make a good ship designer weep to see his creation so modified.

I wonder if the wind effect on and under such platforms affects handling? I am sure it would on a model.

They plan to make heli decks wide enough for conversion to a flying boat!

I was in the middle of a scratch build of Seaforth Clansman many years ago when I got word she was to be in Aberdeen for a week.

Down I went, armed with camera, to capture the hidden bits and anything else to help. Aargh - a helideck plonked on the front of the previously elegant ship - it looked terrible.

I still have the half-finished model, so maybe feel a little for the original designer

well I guess they dont need windscreen wipers on the bridge anymore!  ;D

Jan,

I have a model of the Seabex which is similar to those photos, and the heli pad does not seem to have any effect on the control of the ship...

Although there pads seem to be a lot higher.....
