Just a question out of curiosity, but why do some people feel the need to post under different usernames!?
I can perhaps understand someone in the model trade may want one username for their business post and another for personal use but even then, I really dont understand why!?
-
Probably for the same reason that people use usernames and not real names...
-
Some members have told me they been locked out of emails, forgotten passwords, etc....
-
I think calling someone by their first name,is a bit more polite,than,.."Hey you,"..or Dear Justboatonic,I do realise that almost everyone uses a Nom-de-Plum,fair enough,but,I am of the opinion that knowing a first name is a lot better, than trying to guess who,s who,

When i join a forum i always use karls as karl is usually taken. No points for guessing my name :}
But i like to talk to people by a real name..

I agree with Wullie and Karl.
I have to keep my username and password simple, the memory banks are definitely on the slide {:-{

I guess having multiple identities is maybe good for their egos, gives them a sense of thrill which they wouldn't otherwise have in their day-to-day life. Dare I suggest, probably the same folk who prefer to cloak their locations from their profiles. For a genuine member who has genuinely forgotten his/her email or password would only have to drop a quick mssg to either Martin or perhaps one of the moderators - which is infinitely more polite than clogging-up the board with yet another non-de-plume.
Those of you with good memories will recall that I was accused many times of actually being Miss Sinbad. And look at all the agro caused by that particular rumour. Ergo, my apologies if you detect more than just a tad of cynicism towards multi-identity members.
(Thanks Mr Bish' and Martin, by the way, for your get-well greetings).

Perhaps they think they are lending substance {-) {-) to their point of view >>:-( <*< <:( by the use of multiple names or are they really talking to themselves O0 {-) %%

I PROMISE, I am only me.
Matt, and mattycoops43 is my email, so it's easy to have the log in same as the name.

please forgive me Wasyl, but surely a Nom de Plum can only be Victoria.....

.... or if you are French, Reine Claude %)
Barriew - which is how I appear on all the message boards of which I am a member because I am too lazy to type Barrie Whiteley every time %%
-
Sorry but my user name is what everyone calls me and has done for years!!! The only people who call me by my real name are my mother and wife (that's when I'm not in trouble!!!)
-
So, which user names belong to the same person?
Let's have a list.
Also....
How do you post as "guest"?

For security reasons I require to be known only as Ayrshire Andy in order that my name and location will require massive amounts of computing power to fully resolve, I live at a top secret location just off the A737, turn right at the Esso garage then...MESSAGE TERMINATED
