any body know of a site for paddle boats have just been given a part built one  4 ft long  thanks

Nonsense - you can build adequate paddles out of thin ply.

Got my paddleboat wet yesterday. A modified SHG Lady Janet. Paddles from plasticard as suggested by Pete M.  Can't help but like the wash from paddlers.
When you talk about expensive paddles, I guess you are talking about buying feathering ones.
Which part built paddler are you building? post us a picture.

Hi regiment

Like Mark said, have a look at Paddleducks, as I'm also a member there because I needed their help to build my Waverley. There is everything you could wish to know about the subject.

Regarding paddle wheels they can be as easy (or difficult) to construct as you want them to be. Mine were bought in pieces as a kit at a cost of £200 and really look the business.

If anyone is interested whilst we are on the subject of paddleboats, a facebook group exists - Model Paddle Steamers. This site is Australian and covers the Murray River paddlers.
The one thing which is outstanding is the photography of the models. Well worth a look to anyone who is an FB member.

Here's how I did mine with 1/16 ply. 1 decide diameter, 2 set float size, 3 draw on ply (hint; 9 paddles are set at 40 degrees) 4 cut out (which does take some time) 5 mount meccano wheel on meccano shaft 6 glue all together and paint. Simple, cheap. crude but moderately effective and does not look too gross on the water.
