Dear Martin,
Just had to write and tell you what a great site you provide. I have been building models for over 20 years but have lost touch with the UK having lived down here in sunny Spain for the last 8 years. Your site is superb. I have spent a very enjoyable morning reading it and checking out the various links. I look forward to more.

Lease find enclosed a photo of my award winning model entitled "Victory at Portsmouth". I have recently fully restored it and cased it in an oak case. One day I may try to get more photos on the computer and send you an article on the construction of her or one of my other models.

This has taken a while to respond......as in 10 months......Not sure whether I have sent these before. Apologies if I have.

You are right too...I am very lucky as my wife is very tolerant. She never cpmplains about my modelling or the costs involved.

Thanks Offshore. Built her after a visit to Portsmaouth where I tokk loads of photos and even got permission to go where the public normally dont in order to get detail I wanted. She took me 3 years to complete, the last being just the rigging which as you know is rather complex.

Thanks Bob, she was indeed a labour of love, but she cost me dear....Had to buy the wife a new dining table when she was finished as that was rather messed up. Worth it though.

That was a major project in itself. I wanted it to be as accurate as possible so had detailed plans of the rigging. Basically, but with some exceptions, you attack the standing rigging first and the I did the running rigging moving from forward to aft, until one year later she was finished.
