I'm just starting to build one of these they are really popular over here. Anybody else tried one?
The kits and hardware are pretty reasonable.
Mine will be getting a Nova Rossi .12 marine but you can use air cooled car or buggy engines with an easy flywheel mod.
They are getting 60 mph out of these little riggers but they are pretty delicate you don't want to touch any buoys.

Hi m8,i havent tried this little rigger yet but i can say that Joes service is second to non and his kits are so easy to build and not only that he spends hrs and hrs testing all his designs before bringing them to market so you can be confident they will perform.Hes a good friend of mine and kindly allowed me to use certain aspects of his t boat design on my own i called the Comet, hes a throroughly nice guy and all his kits are awesome. For anyone wanting to build this rigger from scratch hes also provided the plans for free on his site which goes to show just how much he gives back to this hobby.

Well the building is done, still needs finishing with epoxy and paint. I still need a Faast receiver and a pipe but she weighs in at 2.3 lbs. so far.
I built a starting stand for it as well that I think turned out pretty well despite my lack of woodworking skills.
I'm on a waiting list for a square-wave carbon fibre pipe for the .12 that was used on the record setting 80 mph run of this boat. Yee-haw %%

My next challenge is to build a spray booth for spraying Flex Kote epoxy paint.

Nice one Martin.
Now the burning ??? How much is it going to cost to build one? Did the hardware come with the kit?
I want one :} :} :}

Have a read here Bill, comes with turn fin boom tubes and servo brackets, you need to buy the hardware kit to go with it plus your motor which as said can be pulled from your car if you have one ok2.With just a basic car motor you will see speeds in the 50s with ahot motor watch out well over 60 and as was posted NEW WORLD record was broke a cpl weeks ago at over 80 lol.
Mart
ps the plans are free to download also if you fancy cutting some wood ok2
they also do a .21 size one also.

I finished the painting, just waiting for the pond to thaw.
Zippkit just announced the Zipp Sprint an electric 17" rigger that is supposed to be available April 20.
It was designed by the same people as the JAE boats to be fully equipped including radio for under $200.
The motor is a $12 brushless from Hobbyking. It could be a good little boat for our club to attract new members.

Now released for $109USD but all electric gear needs to be purchased for it

If you go onto Offshore Electrics web site you can get the hydro 80% built. Save a lot of time for the lazy ones like me. Also has a link to the build manual.

If you sign up for the newsletter at Zip the Sprint kit that includes full hardware is only $89. I ordered the electronics they suggested for the motor, battery and 2.4ghz radio it came to $40.
They are still waiting for the esc ($39).
The kit was delayed but it should be coming out this week.

Love this video of the JAP version. I've watched it loads of times, but still in awe at this - from a .12 rigger.......

Update
I built a Sprint from Zippkits, great quality all the parts are cut out and even the holes are drilled.
What a blast it goes great and it takes the tightest turns you've ever seen at full speed.
I've only tried the stock prop on 2s so there's still more in it.
For an inexpensive (under $200 with a 2.4g radio) fast boat for a small pond I think it's pretty cool.
No I'm not associated with Zipp :-)
Here's a pic of my boat next to the it's big brother and a couple vids of someone elses.
